Tips on
how to plan a successful reunion!
Reunion planning should begin at least ONE YEAR before the event
date. Those of you who have planned last minute reunions know what
I'm talking about.
Here is the list of things you might want to get started on:
-
Inform school that a reunion is being planned!
(There is no reunion
contact at North, so email the
principal.)
-
Set up reunion committee and meet to coordinate alumni search.
(I am keeping
addresses of the people who sign up on this web site)
-
Collect seed money or organize a fund raiser.
(Hopefully you
already have some money in the bank.)
-
Decide when and where to have a reunion.
(Check out the event
hall page. It's always being updated. If you want to ask about a
particular hall, just ask.)
-
Set up a budget with estimated expenses and ticket price.
(Check out the
sample budget page.)
The above check list
is courtesy of The Reunion Planner.
1. ORGANIZE - Don't wait for someone else to start the reunion
ball rolling. If you are interested in being on a committee, then
start emailing your intentions. While some class officers are a
big part of the planning process, many are not. You'll need at
least five people on the committee.
2. Here's the best tip you'll get - BUY REUNION PLANNING SOFTWARE.
Unless someone on your committee is a event planner, the $50 you
spend here will be the most worth while. Here are two web sites
you can visit to browse software.
-
The Reunion Planner - I use the database software for my class
and it really helps keep track of everything related to hosting a
reunion.
-
Reunion
Planner - The big difference here is you
can add the classmates photo into the database to easily print out
picture nametags.
3. Did I say ORGANIZE? Remember, you don't have to live in Terre
Haute to help plan a successful reunion. This is the electronic
age, use your email and check your email daily!
